Have you ever been told that you’re not a good listener? Do you need me to repeat that for you? Have you ever been told that you’re not a good listener? I’m sure we all have, and the reality is, sometimes we’re not.
Sometimes we’re not paying attention the way that we should be paying attention, and obviously, for service, for relationships, for success in life, we need to become much better listeners than the average. Sometimes we have excellent excuses why we aren’t practicing our active listening. Sometimes we aren’t the problem; it is the other person who isn’t listening!
Listening isn’t the same as hearing. Listening is more than the sounds; it is the ability to receive and interpret verbal and non-verbal cues. Active listening is not a natural skill for most people. This course will explain and show you how to improve your listening, improve your relationships, and improve your reputation.
You will learn:
- What is active listening and how to ensure I am encouraging others to listen actively
- Dealing with conversational interrupters
- Practical approaches for all situations
- Seven strategies for active listening
- Assess your own listening skills
- Dealing with chronic interrupters
- The most common listening mistakes and how to fix them
- How to avoid being a conversation stealer
- Create an action plan to improve your own listening skills
Who Should Attend:
- Senior Leadership
- Managers/ Supervisors / Team Leads
- Sales Representatives
- HR Professionals
- Support Staff
- Any professional who knows better listening will impact their lives
Certificate will be provided to each participant upon completion of the workshop.
Speakers:

Rhonda Scharf
Rhonda is an author, speaker, trainer, and grandmother! She has earned her Certified Speaking Professional (less than 7% of all speakers worldwide have earned this designation), she is a member of the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame, and is one of only 35 speakers worldwide who have earned their Global Speaking Fellow (meaning she truly has an international business), and been awarded the Spirit of CAPS award.
She is the ONLY speaker in the entire world who has earned all four awards. Her peers consider Rhonda a leader in the speaking industry! Her natural warmth and sincerity are balanced by a healthy sense of the absurd, a combination that is useful in any situation.
Rhonda was one of the first Canadians to earn the “Certified Virtual Presenter” designation in 2020. Her professional speaking career began at age two… when her mother would offer her 25 cents to be quiet for five minutes!
